QUIZ. When is it time to change oil in your piston type air compressor ?

A  .When you hear a knocking sound

B.  When there is a sale on 30 wt. non detergent oil at your local Home Depot or Auto parts store.

C.  At regular intervals with ACE 30 EXTREME only available at MYCOMPRESSORGUY.COM

The correct answer of course is  C.

However options A and B unfortunately  are becoming the industry standard .

With my experience over the past 40 years in the air compressor industry, The majority of air compressors purchased between the horse power range of 3 to 30 will be under size for the application.

This duty cycle puts excessive  heat stress on the oil and wear parts such as valves, and bearings leading to premature failure.

The Lubricant  ACE 30 EXTREME was developed to protect the lubricated parts in piston type air compressors.

ACE 30 EXTREME is a blended semi synthetic ISO 100  air compressor oil, with 25 years of  proven history in service, our proprietary formulation will give your compressor extended reliability and life even in the harshest conditions.

The right lubricant is important however - proper maintenance is part of the equation.

change oil, don't add. While topping off a low oil level may be needed occasionally, stick with a oil change schedule.

Set up a regular schedule for oil changes as well as replacing the air filter. We recommend changing oil before the extreme heat of summer, and extreme cold of winter, this schedule is recommended for continuous duty industrial compressors as well as homeowners , and automotive shops.

The compressor that is used in low hours of operation, intermittent duty cycle, has a different problem and that is condensation in the crankcase, water can displace the oil if left to accumulate in the crankcase, so , the same oil change schedule applies to  those compressors too.

HINT:  make the maintenance easier,  add oil drain tube extensions using threaded pipe nipples , and valve.

Do not put your air compressor in a tight unventilated location,  and drain your air tank every week.
